Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe
is an organization for business and professional
women dedicated to improving the quality of life
in our community and throughout the world by
providing service.
About us...
Soroptimist International of South
Lake Tahoe was founded in 1958. It is a part of a worldwide organization of
women who commit themselves to do service to their community, region, and
world. The South Lake Tahoe Club has over 100 members representing a variety
of professions and industries within the community. The aims of the group are
to maintain high ethical standards in business, strive for human rights, develop a spirit
of unity among all Soroptimists of the world, and quicken the spirit
of service and human understanding.
Soroptimist
International is now the world's largest service organization
for women. There are currently around 100,000 members in over 3,000 Clubs in
112 countries and territories, and the movement is expanding rapidly. Many
Clubs are being formed in the developing world.
Membership in a Soroptimist
Club is by invitation and care is taken to ensure that each potential member
meets eligibility requirements. To be eligible for active membership a woman
must be actively engaged in a management or professional capacity, in the
private or public sector, or in an occupation of comparable status or
comparable responsibilities.
